Women in the history and development of the field

(hopefully, this is in the right place)

Because I am who I am, I want to ask, how much space is currently being designated for women as developers and influencers of the field? I’m really tired of reading ‘histories’ of archeology where men are given all of the credit and women are background characters at best or mentions as ‘amazing one-offs’. As far as my own research has shown, women have been involved with the field since it’s inception, sometimes being the driving forces behind change or developments in the field. I’d really like to see that reflected in a textbook for once.
